look what we came across

Double your Pleasure in June - 2 wines each from 2 different wineries - a Rave first.

From Alberti 154 we have both a 2009 Merlot and Torrontes. Alberti 154 is named for its street address - an anomoly in Argentina where buildings aren't numbered. No idea why they wouldn't want people to find these wines as they are unusually well-crafted and well-regarded - killer price-to-taste value ratio.

From Foris we feature the Pinot twins - Blanc and Noir! The Pinot Blanc (Silver Medal winner at World of Wine) has notes of apple blossom, pear and vanilla with a bit of the tropics on the aftertaste - screams summer. The Pinot Noir is a classic fruit-forward "Cali-style Pinot" This quiet winery has been around for a while in the "up and coming " Rogue Valley just North of CA in Oregon.

in the wine news

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST- (one in a long line of independents sold to "corporate wine")

"Rosenblum Cellars' winemaking facility in San Francisco's East Bay is closing, the first casualty of belt-tightening by international drinks giant Diageo.  Diageo will relocate Rosenblum's production to Beaulieu Vineyards in Napa Valley, a company spokeswoman said, but Rosenblum's existing tasting room in Alameda will remain open. Diageo will also close a satellite tasting room just off Healdsburg Plaza in Sonoma County."  WINE SPECTATOR
